When we think of Grief, almost immediately we think of the loss of a loved one. Death and Grief go hand-in-hand and are practically synonymous. The death of a family member, a friend, or even a beloved family pet will cause us to grieve unlike anything else we lose. But when you press a little deeper, you’ll find that Grief is not just tied to physical death, but in actuality it’s bound to emotional death and loss.
The loss of a job or career, a failed dream or expectation, the end of a friendship or romantic relationship, and the crumbling of an identity are all real-life scenarios where we experience Grief in its truest form. Nearly every person has been affected by this type of Grief in some way or another.
We learn from a young age that nothing in this life is promised for forever. As we grow, we learn how harsh and cruel this life can sometimes be. Through that process, we also learn to grieve. We go through bouts of bitterness and detachment; of denial and anger; and even depression and numbness.
But at some point, we must also learn to move forward. Though this is not an easy theme, our desire as the Faithbox Team is to help you learn how to move forward in your journey through grief. Whether you have grieved in the past, are grieving in the present, or will grieve in the future, we want to help you learn how to accept your situation, express it to God and others, and share it to help those in need.
As we begin this month together, we do not take lightly what you’ve been through. We step forward delicately and compassionately, and we’re praying for you, knowing God has purpose on the other side of your grief.
