Inspired by the architecture and design of Indian hermitages and monasteries, this necklace pays homage to each person’s spiritual journey. The word Ashram means a step into the journey of life, and as we all know any journey in life will require resilience!

Since 2006, Matr Boomie has been building paths to community empowerment and sustainable incomes for artisans and their families in rural India. The artisans behind this necklace are based in a low-income area within Delhi, Central India. Close to 100 artisans are employed, and all the metal and beading work is done by women. This is a traditional art for these artisans.

Matr Boomie has been working with this organization for 10 years. Prior to this partnership, the organization and artisans were struggling quite a bit and were being exploited by middlemen. Through partnerships such as Faithbox, Matr Boomie is able to sponsor vocational training and health camps for these artisans and provide drastically improved working facilities and conditions.
